Coding, Collaboration, and Creativity! Our 5th-grade class just wrapped up an exciting Sphero Bolt challenge! The students were tasked with designing and building sleds to help Santa deliver presents to three different houses on a festive map filled with trees and obstacles. After collaborating with the senior class to design and build their sleds, the 5th graders took the reins. They block-coded their way through the challenge, ensuring Santa had enough time at each house to make his deliveries. Way to go, future engineers and coders!

Before Christmas break, the 3rd graders learned a Christmas carol from Mexico. The song spoke of bunuelos which are a donut-like pastry that is commonly made and eaten for Christmas and other festivals. I challenged them that if they could remember the song and what bunuelos were that I would make some for them when we returned from break. They succeeded so I tried my hand at making some bunuelos for the first time and we got to enjoy them today! It's so fun to learn about other cultures and customs through music!
